Build a Life and Career You will Love in 2021

2020 was an interesting year. I stopped working at a company I was a part of for 20+ years. I loved my job, our product, and mostly I loved the people I worked with, which helped get it where it was; people who loved what we were doing as much as I did. People who want to change the world for the better as much as I do.

After four months of soul searching, finding a new way forward, and opening myself up to what I want for this next stage of my life - I keep coming back to one theme - building a life I love.

This means something a bit different through the lens of personal, work, and family life - but it all ties back to taking concrete steps to bring real happiness.

Step #1 - Determine what makes you happy

My First step was to simply list what brings me happiness.

What brings me happiness:

Helping clients
Making others successful
Helping Nonprofits do more
Culture
Transparency
Flexibility
Thinking Long Term

Step #2 - Determine what you have to do build a life to make you happy

Now that I thought through and documented my drivers of happiness, list out what you need to have to close the gap on where you are now and your perfect happiness state.

For me, it was the following

Building a company with a culture that rocks
Daily Kaizen (yes, every day) through 2 second lean
Hiring great people
Trusting the great people we hire
Camaraderie
Cool t shirts, great coffee ;)
Trust, Trust, Trust

Today is a good day to start a great year

One of my favorite motivational quotes is the one above from Steve Jobs. At some point you need to act and deliver. You probably know what makes you happy. Use the 2 Second Lean strategy to make progress to your happines EVERY DAY.

We would love to be part of your happiness

Nothing great has ever been done alone. For us, we worked with a team for years to help to bring a better mousetrap to the association world, we did that. Now it is time to use the knowledge gained for the good that needs to be done.

We would be honored to be part of your organization’s digital future and help your organization achieve its goals. We will help you get to the next level (or the first level if you are stuck). With all our experience I’m confident that we can do good in the world by helping organizations do more with technology.

2021 is the time to think big about being better and happier. Get to it!
